What can I expect during laser tattoo removal?

Dr. Berlin performs your laser tattoo removal at the office and provides you with protective eyewear before you get started. Then, he places the laser over your tattoo, and the energy targets your pigmented skin. You may feel a snap-like sensation as the laser energy hits your skin. If you’re sensitive to pain, be sure to let Dr. Berlin know beforehand so he can make adjustments to your treatment plan.

The length of your laser tattoo removal appointment may vary, depending on the size and location of your tattoo. 

After your laser treatment, Dr. Berlin may provide an ice pack to ease redness, swelling, and pain. He then applies a topical antibiotic to your skin to reduce your risk of infection and covers the treatment area with a bandage.

There is no downtime following laser tattoo removal, but depending on the site of your treatment area, you may need to modify your usual activities.  

How many laser tattoo removal sessions do I need?

The number of laser tattoo removal sessions you need depends on the size, location, and color of your tattoo. Dr. Berlin provides a treatment plan before you start so you know what to expect and how to prepare. However, it usually takes several laser treatments to remove the ink from under your skin.
